1. Introduction

James ("we", "us", "our") is an AI personal secretary you interact with by text message. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

  • Account data: your name, email, and phone number.
  • Google data: with your explicit OAuth consent, we access your Google Calendar and Gmail to read events, read and send email, and create events on your behalf.
  • Messages: the SMS and WhatsApp messages you exchange with James, including content and metadata routed via Twilio.
  • Usage data: logs, device identifiers, and basic analytics to operate and secure the service.

3. How we use your data

  • To respond to your texts and perform the actions you request (read mail, draft replies, schedule events).
  • To authenticate you and link your phone number to your account.
  • To improve reliability, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use the content of your Gmail or Calendar to train generalized AI models.

4. Google API Services User Data Policy

James's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Sharing

We share data only with the processors required to deliver the service: Google (OAuth, Gmail, Calendar), Twilio (SMS/WhatsApp delivery), our cloud database and hosting provider, and the AI model providers that process your messages to generate responses.

6. Retention

We retain conversation history and account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us; we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level database security. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

8. Your rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your data, revoke Google access at any time via your Google Account, and unlink your phone number from your account settings.
